March 2024:
The kick-off meeting (KoM) of the project was held on 20th of March 2024, and all the partners and consortium members have been present to the one-day meeting. During the KoM, the project activities for the different workpackages have been discussed as well as a plan was set for the activities in the next period. All partners presented their achievements in the first month of the project and their planned activities during the next months. Stay tuned for the results of the 4DP nanocomposites as electrothermal actuator (ETA) devices that will come from the collaboration of this wonderful team of excellent scientific groups in the consortium (HMU, UOP, FORTH and UoP). Participants: (HMU): Prof. Lazaros Tzounis, Dr. Miron Krassas, Emmanouil Porfyrakis, Fivos Simopoulos, Georgios Kampourakis, Dr. George Karalis, (FORTH): Prof’s Dimitris Vlassopoulos and Vagelis Harmandaris, (UOP): Prof. Vlasios Mavrantzas, Dr. Loukas D. Peristeras, Dr. Dimitris Tsalikis, (AUTH): Prof. Konstantinos Papagelis.

May 2024:
In 6-7 May 2024, we had the honour Prof. Papagelis to present some of his results related to carbon nanoallotrope physics, Raman spectroscopy and related techniques as well as his role to THUINDER project at the “Lavoisier Discussion Series: Thermal Properties of 2D Materials” in France with his invited talk title: “Optical and phonon properties of 2D materials under mechanical strain”. Congratulations to Prof Papagelis and AUTH team for promoting THUNDER project and stay tuned for more results that will appear in scientific journals and conferences.
All this with the financial support of Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI) funding THUNDER project under the HFRI Greece 2.0 Basic Research Financing Action (Horizontal support of all Sciences) Sub-action II Funding Projects in Leading-Edge Sectors (Project ID Number: 15515).

July 2024:
The set-up for measuring the 4DP electrothermal actuators is up and running at the Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) – CSD-3D Lab premises.
4DP electrothermal actuator (ETA) devices have been assembled and interconnected towards a soft-robotic gripper device by Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) – CSD-3D Lab researchers. Stay tuned for more photos and videos demonstrating the 4DP ETA devices performance for real- & potential soft robotics applications. Well-done to the HMU team for achieving the first 4DP ETA device milestone, while ongoing work for characterisation & modelling by the teams of FORTH, UOP and AUTH will allow to optimise the materials used, the device fabrication and performance as well as investigating micromechanical properties of the structure which is know to have a significant effect on the actuator device performance.
